Mental Health and Substance abuse treatment Center's are encouraged by standards such as 65D30, C.A.R.F. and Joint Commission Hospital Accreditation to annually review and implement training and staff development for all staff members.

Training Requirements for New Staff.
Each new employee must have 2 hours of HIV/AIDS training (before or) within the first six months of employment.
This training must also be provided for no less than 2 hours every two years.
Training Requirements for New Direct Care Staff.
For those staff working in the component, services identified in ss. 65D-30.004(21), 2 hours of training in control of aggression techniques must occur within the first six months of employment and two hours annually after that.
Also, all new direct care staff shall have CPR training (before or) within the first six months of employment.
Training Requirements for New Clinical Staff.
All new clinical staff who work at least 20 hours per week or more must receive 20 hours of educational and competency-based training within the first year.
Training may include HIV/AIDS and control or aggression techniques.
Special Training Requirements for Prevention.
New staff providing prevention services shall receive basic training in science-based prevention within the first year of employment.
Prevention staff shall receive additional training related to their duties and responsibilities for a total of 20 hours, inclusive of the topics listed in this subsection.
General Training Requirements.
All staff and volunteers who provide clinical or prevention services and whose work schedule is at least 20 hours per week or more shall participate in a minimum of 16 hours of documented training per year related to their duties and responsibilities.
Persons who are licensed or certified are exempt from the training requirements in this paragraph providing they have proof of documentation of certified education units and any training that is required by their discipline.
Every staff member will be trained in OSHA requirements (Universal Precautions) with updates yearly, documented in the personnel files. Every staff member will be responsible to obtain and maintain those requirements listed above. Each staff member will also be responsible for rendering any training certificates to the Executive Director for placement in the employee personnel file for annual review of total training hours. These training certificates will be turned in after each training occurs.
